FORT KNOX, Ky. – As cadets finish up their last day of the field training exercise Cadet Hannah Kremmer from the University of Southern Mississippi, assigned to 2nd Regiment, Advanced Camp, reflects on the challenges she has faced during Cadet Summer Training and looks ahead to future opportunities.
Kremmer is a strong believer that difficult challenges are how great leaders are made. Always picking up the difficult challenges of her major, sports and jobs, she believes challenges are another chance to become better.
“If I’m the best person in the room, then I’m in the wrong spot. I constantly want to be somewhere in the middle so I can strive to beat the best,” Kremmer said.
Being one of three cadets selected following CST, Kremmer will be traveling to Korea to complete a Cadet troop leader training internship. She is going there to learn from the air defense artillery unit while shadowing a commander.
Interested in field artillery and air defense artillery, but hoping to go into aviation just as her dad did. She wears her dad’s dog tags as motivation; this has encouraged her to continue to live up to what her dad has done.
“I watch him be successful, I watch him do all these cool, amazing things, and I think he can do it, I can do it,” she said.
Kremmer has a strong mindset of always wanting to get better and grow. She has viewed CST as the “test” for future officers to demonstrate that they are ready to lead.
“This is your test; this is where you’re getting a review examined and processed, ready to become a lieutenant; this is where you’re showing your mettle,” Kremmer said.
Needing to complete one last event, the 12-mile ruck, Kremmer, knowing that she isn’t alone, has not only helped her during CST and encourages other cadets to have a similar mindset.
“You’re not alone, everybody’s going through the same suck and keep that in the back of your head,” Kremmer said.
