FORT KNOX Ky., — Beneath the intense heat of the summer sky, Cadets assigned to 4th Regiment, Advanced Camp, readjusted their M4 Carbines and inspected their targets during group and zero training, June 23, 2025.

After the thundering roar of gunfire, Cadets move downrange to assess their shot proximity and consistency on paper targets. After each round of grouping, they ‘zero’ by adjusting their sights and shoot again for a more accurate result.

After completing the event, Fragasse joined his platoon in the shade. As a civilian, he helps the people of Ohio as a deputy sheriff. Serving his community for over five years in law enforcement, he looks forward to giving back each day.

“What I try to make time to do every day is just meet people, be out in the community and say hello,” said Fragasse. “It’s the highlight of my day.”

Joining the Army was his life goal from an early age. After learning about JROTC in eight grade and ROTC programs in college, he knew he had a spark to light.

“There’s times in life where you have a burning feeling in your gut that you have to do something,” said Fragasse.

Out of high school he enlisted into the Ohio National Guard, finding his second home in the 1484th Transportation Company as a motor transport operator. His family is supportive of his journey to become an Army officer, especially his wife Mary, who he met while in the National Guard.

“My wife’s been a blessing,” said Fragasse. “She’s the greatest part of my life.”

Between time in the National Guard and the sheriff’s department, he paused his studies to pursue his military career. Soon after CST however, the Wright University graduate will start in a new unit, and his wife is set to begin her career as a teacher in the fall. As new homeowners, they bring their dogs Rufus Bo Morgan and Gigi to join them in this next chapter.

“This is the finish line, but it’s the start,” said Fragasse. “I’m getting my training down to become an officer and we’ll be on to the next step in life.”
