Colonel Wes Wilhite’s Biography

Colonel Wes Wilhite hails from Milwaukee, Wisconsin and was commissioned as an Armor officer in June 2001 upon graduation from the United States Military Academy. Colonel Wilhite has served in tactical assignments in the Federal Republic of Germany with 1st Infantry Division and the 2d Cavalry Regiment as well as at Fort Stewart, Georgia with the 3rd Infantry Division. He has deployed three times in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and once in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. In operational assignments, he has served as the V Corps Secretary of the General Staff and as the Deputy Chief of Current Operations and most recently as the Current Operations Division Chief in the Operations Directorate (J3) at the US European Command. In training assignments, he has served as an observer controller and Chief of Plans at the Joint Multinational Readiness Center in Hohenfels, Germany as well as in staff assignments with the 194th Armored Brigade and later as a Cavalry Squadron Commander at Fort Benning, Georgia.

Colonel Wilhite is a graduate of the Command and General Staff College and the United States Army War College’s National Security Policy Program. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Management, Master’s Degree in International Relations from the University of Oklahoma, and a Master’s Degree in Strategic Studies. Colonel Wilhite also completed an Army University fellowship with the United States Department of State, Office of Foreign Assistance Resources, in Washington, DC.

His awards and decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal (three awards), Army Meritorious Service Medal (six awards), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (three awards), Army Achievement Medal (three awards), Joint Service Achievement Medal, the Combat Action Badge, the Basic Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, and the German Armed Forces Military Proficiency Badge (Gold).
