Colonel Sherman C. Watson’s Biography

ArmyROTC.Army.Mil Colonel Sherman C. Watson Jr. enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1997 as a Supply Specialist and served in the Alabama National Guard before he received his commission from Auburn University Montgomery in May 2001 as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Field Artillery and earned a Bachelor of Liberal Arts degree. He also holds a Master of Arts in Management from Wester University, a Master of Military Operations Art and Science from the School of Advanced Military Studies (SAMS), and a Master of Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College.

Col. Watson’s first duty assignment was 2nd Battalion, 18th Field Artillery, 212th Fires Brigade, Fort Sill, Oklahoma, as a Platoon Leader. He deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003. His follow-on assignment was 4th Battalion, 27th Field Artillery, 4th Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Bliss, Texas, where he commanded Bravo Battery and conducted operations forward deployed to Mosul, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2006-2008. He later served as a Task Force Fire Support Observer Controller, Operations Group Rotational Exercise Planner, and Operations Group Chief of Plans with the Joint Multinational Readiness Center, Hohenfels, Germany. From 2013-2014, Colonel Watson was assigned as an Operational Planner at ISAF Joint Command (IJC) CJ35 Future Operations, Kabul, Afghanistan. Upon redeployment he was assigned to 1st Armored Division, where he served as the Battalion Operations Officer for 4th Battalion, 27th Field Artillery Division, and Brigade Executive Officer for 1st Armored Division Artillery.

In 2016, Col. Watson was assigned to 25th Infantry Division Headquarters, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, where he served as a Division Headquarters Planner, G3 Future Operation. In 2017, Col. Watson served as the Secretary for the General Staff (SGS) Operation Inherent Resolve (OIR), Iraq/Syria. He then commanded 2nd Battalion, 82nd Field Artillery, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas from May 2018-June 2020. He then served as a Senior Army Instructor at Army Joint Support Team Hurlburt Field, Florida from June 2020-June 2021, before serving as a Professor of Military Science at Tuskegee University from June 2021-June 2022. His most recent assignment was as the Chief of Fires for V Corps Headquarters, Fort Knox, Kentucky.

Col. Watson’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (1 OLC), the Meritorious Service Medal (3 OLC), Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal (4 OLC), the Combat Action Badge, and the Parachutist Badge. CSM Dwight K. Hart’s Biography

Command Sergeant Major Dwight K. Hart is a native of St. Kitts and enlisted in the United States Army in May of 1999. He attended Army Basic Training at Ft. Jackson, South Carolina and was subsequently assigned to the 29th Engineer Battalion, Ft. Shafter, HI, as a Geodetic Surveyor.

During the course of his career, CSM Hart has held numerous duty positions including: Team Leader, 70th Engineer Company, HI; Squad Leader, 555th Topo Engineer Company, Ft. Hood, TX; Senior Engineer Tech, 72nd Survey and Design Detachment, Ft. Knox, KY; Senior Drill Sergeant, Ft. Leonard Wood, MO; Senior Tech Engineer NCO, 130th Engineer Battalion; Instructor/Writer, Ft. Leonard Wood, MO; Company First Sergeant, B/169 Engineer Battalion; S3 NCOIC, 35th Engineer Battalion, Fort Leonard Wood, MO; Company First Sergeant, 9th Engineer Battalion, HHC Brigade, Fort Stewart, GA; Battalion Command Sergeant Major, 864th Engineer Battalion (Pacemakers), Joint Base Lewis McCord, WA.

CSM Hart’s deployments include Iraqi Freedom, New Dawn, Inherent Resolve and Enduring Freedom. After completing the Sergeants Academy in 2019, Class 69, CSM Hart served as the ODCSENG, USAREUR-AF Headquarters. He was then selected to be the USAREUR-AF G33 Sergeant Major. His most recent assignment was as the Battalion Command Sergeant Major, 1-409th BEB (SteadFast) Engineer Regiment, Ft. Knox, KY.

CSM Hart’s military education includes all levels of the Noncommissioned Officer Education System; the Warrior Leaders Course; Basic Noncommissioned Officers Course; Advanced Noncommissioned Officers Course; and the Sergeants Major Academy. He is also a graduate of Air Assault School, Master Resilience Training, Basic Instructor Course, and the Army Drill Sergeant School. CSM Hart holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Management from Excelsior College and a Bachelor of Arts in Leadership Management from U.S Army Command & General Staff College.

His awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Award (5th award); Army Accommodation Medal (7th award); Army Achievement Medal (5th award); Army Good Conduct Medal (8th award); National Defense Service Medal (2nd award); Afghanistan Campaign Medal; Iraq Campaign Medal (with 2 Campaign Stars); Global War on Terrorism Service Ribbon; NCO Professional Development Ribbon (numeral 5); Army Service Ribbon; and the Overseas Service Ribbon (6th award). He has earned the Air Assault Badge and the Drill Sergeant Identification Badge. CSM Hart is married to Mrs. Jehna Hart and they have one child, Julian.
