Colonel Jason Dumser’s Biography
Colonel Jason Dumser is a native of Indianapolis, Indiana, and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant into the Adjutant General Corps detailed for four years to Infantry upon graduation from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana in May 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Japanese. His military education includes the Infantry Officer Basic Course, the Adjutant General Officer Advanced Course, the Command and General Staff College, and the Army War College.
Following completion of the Infantry Officer Basic Course and US Army Ranger School, Dumser was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, North Carolina, where he served as a Rifle Platoon Leader, Anti-Tank Platoon Leader, and Rifle Company Executive Officer. His next assignment was at 5th Ranger Training Battalion, Ranger Training Brigade, Dahlonega, Georgia, where he served as the Ranger Support Element (OPFOR) Platoon Leader and Battalion S-1.
In January 2007, Dumser was assessed for assignment to the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (SOAR) (Airborne). He was selected and assigned to 3rd Battalion, 160th SOAR (Airborne) as the Battalion S-1/Adjutant, Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia. Following completion of the Officer Advanced Course, Dumser was then assigned to Task Force 1- 160th SOAR (Airborne) as the TF S-1/Adjutant at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. His next assignment was as the Commander, 502nd Human Resources Company, 4th Sustainment Brigade, Fort Hood, Texas.
Following that assignment, Dumser served as the Regiment S-1/Adjutant, 160th SOAR (Airborne) and as the Battalion Executive Officer, Special Operations Aviation Training Battalion, Fort Campbell, Kentucky. His next assignment was serving as a Strategic Readiness Officer, Directorate of Military Personnel Management, Office of the Army Deputy Chief of Staff, G-1, Pentagon. From 2018-2020, he commanded Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion, 82nd Airborne Division. After battalion command and Army War College, Dumser was assigned to U.S. Special Operations Command where he served as the Executive Officer to the Chief of Staff and later as the Command Inspector General.
Dumser has deployed in support of 10 operational deployments, three in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and seven in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Dumser’s awards and decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, the Bronze Star (with 1 Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster), the Meritorious Service Medal (with 4 Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster), the Army Commendation Medal (with 2 Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters), the Army Achievement Medal (with 2 Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters), the Presidential Unit Citation Award, the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, the Expert Infantryman’s Badge, the Ranger Tab, and the Master Parachutist Badge.
CSM Gregory N. Harmon’s Biography
Command Sergeant Major Gregory N. Harmon enlisted in the Army in July 1998 and completed One Station Unit Training (OSUT) as an 11B Infantryman at Fort Benning, GA. CSM Harmon has served in every key leadership position in the Infantry from Team Leader to CSM. His assignments include 1st Battalion, 17th Infantry Regiment, Fort Wainwright Alaska, 1st Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment, Fort Drum New York, National Training Center (NTC), Fort Irwin California, 2 nd Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment, Fort Drum New York, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff (ODCS), G-1, Pentagon Washington DC, 1 st Battalion, 26th Infantry Regiment, Fort Campbell Kentucky, 101ST Airborne Division G-3, Fort Campbell, Kentucky, 5th Security Force Assistance Brigade, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, and Installation Management Command Directorate-Readiness, Soto Cano Air Base, Honduras. CSM Harmon has held the positions of Assistant Gunner, M240B Gunner, Rifle Team Leader, Rifle Squad Leader, Operations Sergeant, Anti-Tank Platoon Sergeant, Observer Controller/Trainer (OC/T), Rifle Company First Sergeant, HHC First Sergeant, Senior Training and Operations NCO for Army Resiliency Directorate ODCS G-1, Battalion Operations Sergeant Major, Combined Joint Operations Center (CJOC) Sergeant Major, Commander Bagram Airfield (COMBAF) Senior Enlisted Leader, and Battalion Command Sergeant Major for 2nd Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment, Fort Drum, New York, 1 st Battalion, 5th Security Force Assistance Brigade, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, and Garrison Command Sergeant Major for Soto Cano Air Base, Honduras. CSM Harmon participated in five deployments in support of campaigns in Afghanistan and two deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
CSM Harmon’s military education includes all Noncommissioned Officer Education System courses. He is a graduate of the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy (Class 67). His additional military training includes Basic Airborne Course, Pathfinder Course, Modern Army Combative Course (LVL I & II), Battle Staff, and Air Assault Course. His Civilian Education includes a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Arts from Excelsior College.
