Our Vision & Philosophy
United States Army Cadet Command supports the Army’s six Senior and four Junior Military Colleges, which provide high quality education to young men and women in concert with a professional leadership development program in a disciplined environment, preparing them to achieve their fullest potential in the US Army and in society as a whole.
Joining Army ROTC at a Senior Military College or a Military Junior College has many benefits. The leadership and people skills required for success in life become second nature after attending one of these historic schools. Cadets may choose any academic major offered by the institution and can compete to commission as an officer into the Active Duty Army, Army Reserve, or Army Army National Guard. In addition to leadership development and a career after college, Army ROTC also provides monetary incentives and scholarships.
What Are Military Colleges?
Senior Military Colleges (SMC)
Senior Military Colleges offer a four year college experience in a structured military environment. Cadets live and train in a Corps of Cadets while pursuing any academic major offered by the institution. These schools provide a pathway to commissioning as an Army officer, with opportunities to compete for Active Duty, Army Reserve, or Army National Guard.
Military Junior Colleges (MJC)
Military Junior Colleges offer a two year military focused college experience with the option to participate in the Early Commissioning Program (ECP). Cadets can commission as officers in the Army Reserve or National Guard in as little as two years. After commissioning, many cadets complete their bachelor’s degree at another institution while serving.
