Psychiatric nurses assess, support, and treat patients coping with mental health disorders. They conduct intake interviews and counsel patients to ensure they get the treatment they need to be productive and healthy members of the Army.
Psychiatric-Mental Health Course (66C)
- Course Location: Walter Reed Army Medical Center
- Length: 16 weeks (This course typically occurs every FEB-MAY, JUN-SEPT, and SEPT- JAN)
Overview: This course prepares active Army Nurse (AN) Corps Officers with the knowledge base and clinical skills to deliver entry level nursing care and treatment to psychiatric patients within the TO&E and TDA hospital setting. The Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing Course prepares the nurse to function in TDA and TO&E Behavioral and Mental Health Departments or any other clinical setting which meets the environmental nursing standards for psychiatric/mental health nursing.
